A Jerusalem family during renovations in their living room, found a staircase, lost for 2,000 years, leading to old “Mikveh” -large ritual bath carved out of bedrock. (Mikveh is a bath used for the purpose of ritual immersion in Judaism).

The family kept the secret “Mikveh” underneath their living room for a couple of years. Ad interim, the family blocked off the entrance to the “Mikveh” with wooden doors, and simply continued living over it.

Recently, they decided to contact the authorities and show them the discovery beneath their house, in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Ein Kerem.
