Retaliation: Law Would Force SCOTUS to Enroll in Obamacare

The Republican controlled House may be ready to strike back at the Supreme Court in the wake of the controversial King v Burwell decision.
Representative Brian Babin (R-TX) has signaled he plans to introduce what he has called the SCOTUScare Act, which would strip the nine justices and their staffs of their exemption status under the Affordable Care Act. Babin believes the Court should have to live with the decision they made concerning the contest Obamacare exchanges.

“As the Supreme Court continues to ignore the letter of the law, it’s important that these six individuals understand the full impact of their decisions on the American people,” he said. “That’s why I introduced the SCOTUScare Act to require the Supreme Court and all of its employees to sign up for ObamaCare.”

The law would force the justices and their staff to suffer the same system the Court just rescued from the clutches of doom.
In a 6-3 decision which was announced Thursday morning, the Court upheld subsidies to federally established state-based healthcare exchanges, even though the law itself denoted that only exchanges established by the states could receive such subsidies.
Justice Antonin Scalia was scathing in his dissent. “Words no longer have meaning if an Exchange that is not established by a State is ‘established by the State,’” he wrote.
The dissent reads, “Under all the usual rules of interpretation, in short, the Government should lose this case. But normal rules of interpretation seem always to yield to the overriding principle of the present Court: The Affordable Care Act must be saved.”

Many on the right agree that the Court ignored the language of the law to reach the verdict they wanted. Congressman Babin’s SCOTUScare Act would ensure that the ruling affects those on the Court just as much as it does the American people.

“By eliminating their exemption from ObamaCare, they will see firsthand what the American people are forced to live with,” Babin stated.

While contentions between the legislative and judicial branches are nothing new, it is interesting to see Congress consider retaliating at the Court.
What do you think, should the justice have to live with their decision and made to enroll in Obamacare?
