How National Guard Troops Responded to Burning Of The Flag Will Make You Proud to Be an American

Protests are still going hot and heavy in Ferguson, but thankfully, the presence of National Guard troops is having an impact on rioting and looting, much of which has subsided.
One of the popular activities used by protesters in their demonstration is the burning of the American flag, which is pretty disrespectful, but what do expect from a group of folks who think stealing stuff is a legitimate way to voice a grievance?
During one particular flag burning, a group of National Guard soldiers standing outside of the Ferguson Police Department decided to do something with the remains of Old Glory that will definitely make you proud to be an American.

Saturday night, as the troops were standing guard in front of the Ferguson Police Department building, protesters across the street gleefully set our American flag ablaze.
When the flames dwindled out, several of the National Guard troops, in full body armor with weapons presumably locked and loaded, calmly crossed the street to retrieve the remnants of our flag. They were taunted by the protesters and mocked by the person recording the video who said to them, “It’s a piece of cloth!”
One of the troops responded with a heartfelt, “But it means something to us.”

These guys are simply awesome. I don’t know about you, but I’m certainly glad to have these patriotic soldiers keeping the peace in Ferguson and defending freedom around the world.
Contrary to what the less-than-intelligent buffoon with the camera said, the flag is more than a piece of cloth. It’s a symbol that represents the incredible sacrifices that have been made to secure our freedom and provide ample opportunities for millions of people throughout our nation’s history.
