Woman shoots stalker after he kicks in her door, “I stood up for myself”

A woman shot her stalker after he kicked in her back door.  She had been living in fear, showering with a gun and propping a chair up against her door for just this sort of situation.  Her post to Reddit made the story go viral.
She writes, “I’m writing this staring at the mess the police left for me, in a bit of a fog.  After 6 months of stalking and threats against my life my stalker finally snapped and decided to kick my door in and make good on his promise. Out of fear, the past month I had begun sleeping with a chair propped against my front door, to give myself a few extra precious seconds in case of emergency. I shudder to think how differently things might’ve turned out had I not barricaded the door.”
Police say former boyfriend Douglas Eugene Jackson, 22, kicked in her door at around 1am last Friday.
“I awoke around 1:15 am to the sound of the door giving way after one kick followed by the sounds of my stalker struggling to dislodge the chair while forcing his way inside. I jumped up and grabbed the gun I’ve learned to do everything even shower with. I stood at the top of my stairs and fired twice. Hitting him in the chest, I hear his scream, his disbelief that I’d stood up for myself.” said the victim in a blog post.
KVVU-TV reports that Jackson left the scene and tried to hide in some bushes.  Police dogs quickly found the stalker.  He was treated for his injures at University Medical Center of Southern Nevada. Jackson now faces charges of home invasion and aggravated stalking.
“For months of him evading the police I began to question whether he was unstoppable. Untraceable. Houdini, he would murder me and get away with it. As of now I’m in a haze of guilt, surprise, relief and disbelief. I shook as the canines drag him out from his hiding place under a bush.” the victim writes in a post to Imgur.

  1. Why did you do that ? you could have believed as others and waited and called the police who would protect you, I am almost certain that the response time of between 12 minutes and 2 hrs he would not have harmed you much if at all. Who do you think you are defending yourself as God intended you to do? What makes you think that for one second the 2nd amendment gives you this right when we know it is only right for cops and solders the militia to own guns? Now your going to have to live with this knowing those mistakes you made in defending yourself will eat at your conscience until you throw up your arms and say I should not have done it, ban all citizens from having guns and let the police protect me. Just kidding for all those that no not what satire is. Great work only problem is you left the scumbag breathing, rule of thumb when you pull the weapon you definitely fire it, to prove you were really afraid for your life you empty the gun into the dirtbag and stand there and continue to pull the trigger until the authorities arrive and see it. Bravo Bravo Bravo

  4. Most democrats & all "progressive" liberals would rather have this woman raped & killed by him than have the scum who attacked her harmed in any way by her use of a gun without the government's assistance in any way.
These are the misguided, delusional madmen in our midst that law abiding citizens must contend with.
Damn all of you! You shall NEVER render us defenseless.

  5. Your comment is even more pertinent after a man in Florida was just handed a 20-year sentence for firing a warning shot to protect his wife and daughter from a thug in the house. Good thing this woman hit the guy, or they could have charged her with the same thing.

  6. She needs more target practice, and she should have emptied the clip into the stalker, but she may get another chance as the stalker will probably only get a couple years and he will probably sue her in civil court for violating his rights.

The Gun. The Great Equalizer. Being in the situation of having to shoot someone before, I know how you felt afterwards. It's a scary feeling to find that you have it in you to use lethal force to defend yourself, but it's also a proud feeling. I am proud of you. Good work.
